Barcelona keen on €70 million-rated Newcastle United attacker

Xavi’s Barcelona are keen on acquiring the services of the 23-year-old Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
According to a report by Fichajes, Barcelona are keen on having Alexander Isak in their ranks. The Catalan giants are looking to further bolster their attack with a long-term view and they have shortlisted a few players they would like to push for. The 23-year-old is a part of that list and is an option that manager Xavi really likes.

The Catalan giants have been struggling financially for a while now. Despite that, they have been doing some incredible transfer business over the past few windows. They have a squad good enough to compete for all major trophies.

But quite a few of their players are in the last phase of their careers. As a result, the Catalan giants have started planning for the future and they will first look to add a young forward to their ranks.

The Spanish giants want to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. People at the club believe he is the ideal candidate for their number nine position and that the 23-year-old could eventually take over from Robert Lewandowski.

While the Catalan giants want to sign the former Real Sociedad striker, it won’t be an easy task. The Spanish international joined Newcastle United from Sociedad last summer for a record fee of €70 million and his contract runs until the summer of 2028.

The 23-year-old has featured in a total of 31 matches since joining the English club and he has contributed towards 15 goals. Isak has been doing a great job and the Magpies have no intentions of letting him leave the club. As a result, Barcelona will have to pay much more than €70 million for his services.

But, the Catalan giants’ financial situation won’t allow them to put forward that big an offer. As a result, they will have to figure out a way to lower his asking price. But, that looks unlikely as the Magpies are very happy with the performances of the Spanish international and are keen on having him at the club for as long as possible.
