Bruno Guimaraes has just sent a two-word message to Sandro Tonali after Carabao Cup win vs Man City

Bruno Guimaraes was one of Newcastle United’s difference makers against Manchester City on Wednesday night, and he cannot hide his delight.

The 25-year-old started on the bench at St James’ Park, but was brought on at half time to replace Lewis Miley. It was an inspired change, and played a key role in Newcastle winning 1-0 to advance in the Carabao Cup.

Tino Livramento hogged the headlines after the full time whistle, but the introduction of Bruno made a huge difference.

He helped Newcastle keep the ball – something they were terrible at doing in the opening 45 minutes.

Bruno produced a really classy second half display, and proved why he is more than worthy of the massive pay rise that is coming his way.

He helped change the game for Newcastle, while he also gave Sandro Tonali a boost in the middle of the park.

The Italian was really struggling before Bruno’s arrival, but was much better in the second half. He got into dangerous areas and used the ball well, which was a complete contrast to the first half.

It was a Jekyll and Hyde performance from the 23-year-old, who really benefitted from having Bruno alongside him.

After the game, Tonali took to his official Instagram account to celebrate the victory.

He wrote: “Great team effort! We keep on going.”

The post prompted a reply from Bruno, who commented: “Yesssss fratello.”

That translates to ‘yes brother’, as he celebrates the duo making it into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, where Newcastle will face Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Howe will need another big performance when that game arrives, and he will hopefully get it. The Newcastle players proved last night that they are up for the cup once again, including Tonali, who will no doubt have been told about last season’s journey to Wembley.

He is now on his own journey, having produced a performance on Wednesday night that pretty much summed up his Toon career so far.

It was far from perfect, but the signs are clear for all to see that he is going to become a major player for Newcastle United.
