Nottingham Forest star explains what Lionel Messi told him in 2021 that he will never forget

Nottingham Forest star Nicolas Dominguez has been discussing the message that Lionel Messi told him in 2021 that will stay with him forever. The midfielder was part of the Argentina side that claimed Copa America glory during that year.

The 25-year-old made his Forest debut last weekend against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. He made his first appearance for the club and gave a strong account of himself.
Dominguez checked in at Forest from Bologna during the summer transfer window. He was involved in a deal that saw Remo Freuler head in the opposite direction and the Reds look to have a decent deal.

Forest star Dominguez explains memorable Messi message

Dominguez has been speaking to The Sun (Print Edition; page 62) ahead of today’s game against Brentford. The midfielder will hope to keep his place in the team this afternoon as he looks to settle in England.

Ahead of the game, he’s been quizzed on Messi and in 2021 he was inspired by the player. Forest star Dominguez said: “The great thing about playing alongside Lionel Messi is there isn’t a day he doesn’t do something that surprises you – in a good way.

“The story I’ll keep with me forever was his team talk before the Copa America final before we beat Brazil in the Maracana. The basic message was that we had come through so much and now had the chance to support the Argentina people who had suffered so much.”

Dominguez can be City Ground star

It’s only been one game but the Argentine midfielder has shown that he can become a quality player. The Reds recruited well during the summer and Dominguez is just one example.
Hopefully, Forest will get the chance to see more of him today. He deserves to keep his shirt after last week and hopefully, he can really kick on in the Premier League this season.

Dominguez is clearly inspired by Messi. It’s madness to think that Forest now have players who rub shoulders with the world’s best player and long may the recruitment of these types of players continue.
