Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as Brice Samba shines in the Champions League.
Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba continues to impress at Lens.
This time, he received the plaudits from Arsenal star Declan Rice as Mikel Arteta’s side fell to a 2-1 defeat in the Champions League. Samba played a major part in what was a remarkable night for Lens.
He made several saves as the French outfit claimed the first spot in Group B. Speaking after the game, Rice told Bein Sports: “We lost it in both boxes.
“They defended their boxes excellently even though we had some big chances to score. Their keeper [Samba] made some stunning saves, one cleared off the line and they scored two great goals.”
Samba’s performance prompted a number of responses from Forest supporters. One said: “I see Brice Samba played a blinder last night as Lens beat Arsenal. Always a Red.”
A second added: “To be fair to Arsenal, Brice Samba is the best goalkeeper in the world,” before another continued: “Brice Samba doing Brice Samba things.”
A fourth concluded: “Brice Samba has to be labelled man of the match at the end just for that save he made. Sorry Arsenal fans, the game’s over.”
Samba made more than 100 appearances for the Reds and performed heroics in the 2021/22 Championship play-off semi-final shoot-out against Sheffield United, saving three penalties.
