Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has singled out midfielder Bruno Guimarães following the 4-1 win over Paris Saint Germain.
The Newcastle boss spoke to TNT Sports Brazil after the game, who were keen to ask him about Guimarães after another big performance from him.
The Magpies pulled off arguably the biggest win of the second round of group games on Wednesday evening, battering PSG at St James Park in a performance that will be remembered for years to come.
They were undoubtedly better than the French giants man for man, with a host of impressive performances that earned them widespread praise afterwards.
Guimarães was one of those who again impressed, dominating in the middle of the park in a way that has become customary for him since Newcastle signed him in January 2022.
He is very much one of the darlings of St James Park and Howe admitted as much after the game in his comments when asked if the midfielder is one of the best in Europe, or even the world.
“Yeah, for me he’s an outstanding player,” he said.
“He can do everything on the football pitch and brings real heart as well. What a lad, what a character.
“We’ve built a very good relationship with, and he’s got a very good relationship with the supporters. He’s integral to the football club, so yeah, we love him.”
