Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson’s fresh update on Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has discussed the fitness of his players, emphasizing the crucial need for Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze as the season progresses.

Michael Olise continues to contend with an injury sustained while representing the France under-21 team, while Eberechi Eze is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks due to a hamstring issue.

These absences compound the existing challenges within the squad, including injuries to Jefferson Lerma, Dean Henderson, Naouirou Ahamada, Joel Ward, Cheick Doucoure, and Matheus Franca, ahead of upcoming matches against Newcastle, Tottenham, and Burnley.

Despite these adversities, the Eagles have managed to remain unbeaten in their last three league games. However, Manager Hodgson concedes that the team would perform even better with Olise and Eze available.

Hodgson stated in an interview with the South London press, “The two players we are eagerly awaiting are our two creative talents who played a significant role in the successful 10-game period I had with the team when I returned last year. Our success was heavily reliant on the form of Olise, who has yet to make an appearance for us, and we’re already into mid-October. Now, with Eberechi Eze’s serious injury, my optimism will only be restored when these two players return to full fitness, but it will be some time.”

Roy Hodgson managed to turn things around when he took over from Patrick Vieira with just ten games remaining in the previous season, and the Eagles were in danger of relegation.
