Newcastle United transfers: The Magpies have been connected with one of Leeds United’s most promising young players.
Newcastle United and Manchester City have been linked with the transfer of Leeds United youngster Finley Gorman. Gorman is only 15 years old, but he has already made an impression for Leeds’ junior setup, appearing for the Under-18s this season.
While Newcastle are said to be interested in the young versatile midfielder who can play out wide or through the middle, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Manchester City have made contact with Leeds about a potential move and consider themselves ‘front-runners’ for a deal. Newcastle United’s interest in Gorman follows a renewed emphasis on signing junior players for their academy sides, with players such as Cathal Heffernan and Leo Shahar, who joined from AC Milan and Wolves, respectively, helping to improve their youth ranks.
Because of his age, any move for Gorman would see Leeds receive a compensation payment for their role in training and developing the youngster
