Breaking News: Bills Confirm In Talk To Sign New Orleans Saints Man

Bills are expected to hire Ronald Curry of the Saints.
The Saints will continue to say goodbye to assistants on that side of the ball as they prepare to bring in 49ers pass-game coordinator Klint Kubiak as their next offensive coordinator. Ronald Curry, the quarterbacks coach, is leaving New Orleans along with Doug Marrone and Pete Carmichael.

Curry already secured employment elsewhere. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the Bills want to appoint him as their next quarterbacks coach and pass-game coordinator. Joe Brady was Buffalo’s quarterback coach going into the previous season, but after Ken Dorsey was fired, he was promoted to offensive coordinator. The OC role was vacant for the AFC East champions as Brady had taken it on a full-time basis.
Originally, Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com stated that Curry would not be joining the Saints in 2024. Curry was offered a contract extension by the Saints to remain their wide receivers coach, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.football. From 2018 to 2020, Curry oversaw the wideouts for the team. However, it makes sense that he left to work as a mentor for Josh Allen, especially with a new offensive coordinator on the way to New Orleans. O-line coach Jahri Evans and tight ends coach Clancy Barone are currently the sole offensive position coaches with the Saints.
Curry, a former wide receiver in the NFL, joined the Saints in 2016. Former North Carolina quarterback Curry was hired by Sean Payton, who oversaw his gradual promotion. Curry spent the last three seasons as the quarterbacks coach for New Orleans, having taken on the position in 2021. Brady and Curry served as Saints assistants from 2017 to 2018, which surely contributed to the former’s expected appointment to Buffalo.

During the previous two years, the Saints spoke with Curry, their longstanding assistant, to discuss the position that is anticipated to go to Kubiak as offensive coordinator. The 44-year-old assistant visited with the Broncos and Buccaneers on their 2023 OC engagements as well.

Due to Buffalo’s OC position being linked to Allen, Brady might be an important member in the 2025 HC rotation, which could position Curry to eventually take on the role of coordinator in Buffalo. Curry, who coached players like Jameis Winston, Taysom Hill, Trevor Siemian, and Andy Dalton in different Orleans before to the signing of Derek Carr, will see Allen as a different caliber of quarterback skill. All of the options after Drew Brees had their moments of success, though.

Dalton averaged a career-high 7.6 yards per attempt and completed 18 touchdown passes against only nine interceptions. The Panthers made the 2022 Saints starter a nice QB2 offer as a result. Winston finished 2021 with a 14-3 TD-INT ratio, although he played with a receiving corps that was on the lower echelons of the league, before he tore his ACL. However, in 2022, the previous first overall pick was unable to duplicate that performance. Carr had a mixed 2023 but continued to become better toward the end, placing 16th in QBR. Despite Carr’s contract, the Saints kept Hill a regular member of their quarterback rotation in 2023.
