Breaking News: A four-time Pro Bowler, A Two-Time All-Pro Member, Confirm Interested In Joining Houston Texans

Another acquisition to the Houston Texans? All-Pro cornerback is eager to join the group.
Following a surprising postseason run in the 2023 NFL season, the Houston Texans have been quite busy this offseason.

This has included signing two former top-10 picks in NFL free agency, as well as five possible new defensive starters.

The Texans might not stop there as draft season approaches. Four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Xavien Howard has not been linked to them, but he is open to signing with the team, as he is indicating. Howard is from Houston.
“I would like carrying that out. Regarding his return to Houston, Howard said, “Especially back at home, the crib,” as reported by the Houston Chronicle. Although I wouldn’t say I’ve always supported the Houston Texans, I have been one during the offseason. It’s been tattooed on me. I even had the emblems of the Texans and the Houston Rockets tattooed on me.

This offseason, Houston has already added C.J. Henderson and Jeff Okudah, two previous first-round picks, to the cornerback position. Derek Stingley Jr., one of the top young corners, is another asset.

Would the Houston Texans be wise to acquire Xavien Howard?
At first glance, it would appear that this is not necessary. However, in their brief NFL careers, neither Okudah nor Henderson have shown themselves to be cornerbacks capable of starting.

When the Atlanta Falcons targeted Okudah last season, he produced a 94.6 quarterback rating. After an unsuccessful three-year stint as the former No. 3 pick with the Detroit Lions, it was his first season in Atlanta.

Over his four years in office, Henderson’s performance has not improved all that much. Before being traded to the Carolina Panthers, the former No. 9 pick from Florida spent less than two complete seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Henderson allowed a 73% completion percentage and 106.8 QB rating against targets during the previous season.

Howard, a former All-Pro, has demonstrated his superiority as one of the NFL’s top cornerbacks. When targeted, Howard gave allowed just an 81.3 QB rating during his tenure with the Miami Dolphins last season. It could be wise to pair him with Stingley Jr.
