Breaking News:Top SEC LB Name Texas Longhorns As His Preferred Destination After Official Visit

LB with four stars Elijah Barnes schedules a formal trip to Texas.
In June, one of the best linebackers in the state will pay Austin an official visit.
One of the best linebacker prospects in the state is being targeted by the Texas Longhorns, who will host him this summer.

On Wednesday, Elijah Barnes, a four-star linebacker for the Dallas Skyline, revealed that he has scheduled an official visit to watch the Longhorns.

Only Jonah Williams, a five-star prospect (15th overall), and Riley Pettijohn, a four-star prospect (38th overall), are ranked higher among linebacker prospects in the state of Texas than Barnes. The Texas staff has made Barnes a priority since making the offer in May of last year. Barnes is expected to travel to Lincoln to formally meet with Matt Rhule and Nebraska in addition to the Longhorns. This month, Barnes was supposed to visit Alabama, but that trip has already been postponed.

Barnes just finished a fantastic junior campaign in which he recorded 131 tackles, 15 TFLs, and one interception. Such a successful year could propel him further higher in the recruitment services rankings.

The Longhorns will probably select at least three linebackers this cycle, considering they only selected Anthony Smith as a prospect in 2024. As the Longhorns get closer to official visitation season, Barnes is unquestionably a player to monitor.
