Latest LSU News: LSU Tigers Confirm Another Top Star To Enter Transfer Portal

In yet another setback for the Tigers, Hailey Van Lith of LSU logs into the transfer portal the day after her star teammate Angel Reese files for the WNBA Draft.
Only one day after her now-former teammate Angel Reese declared for the WNBA draft, Hailey Van Lith has dealt another blow to LSU by accessing the transfer portal.

The 22-year-old guard, who only joined the Lady Tigers in November after transferring from Louisville, where she spent three seasons playing from 2020 to the previous year, saw a decline in her averages over her final year with the Cardinals, going from 19.7 points, 3.2 assists, and 4.5 rebounds to 11.6 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds over her final year at LSU.

Furthermore, Iowa defeated Maryland 94-87 in the March Madness Elite Eight on Monday, with Van Lith defending Caitlin Clark, the NCAA women’s all-time top scorer, who finished with 41 points and 12 assists.

Van Lith first enrolled in April of last year at LSU, the current national champion. She had known head coach Kim Mulkey since high school and was drawn to the women’s basketball team because of the team’s intensity and the school’s support for them.

Mulkey remarked of Van Lith following the Lady Tigers’ defeat in Albany earlier this week, “I hope it’s not her last game, but if it is, I’m proud to have been her coach for a year.”

Hailey Van Lith was a prolific shooter before attending LSU. Shot it in Louisville quite a bit. had a lot of success. was a member of strong teams… You don’t see many players take that risk and step outside of their comfort zone, especially one as important as she was to Louisville. She has accepted taking fewer shots and mastering a new position.

“I will always be grateful to Haley for coming to LSU to play with so many amazing players and pick up a new position.”Van Lith’s return to Louisville has become a possibility before the transfer portal closes on May 1.
According to USA Today, the two-time First-team All-ACC player might also end up at South Carolina, Stanford, Washington State, or Oregon State.

Sporting News has also predicted that UConn, Southern California, Miami, and Ohio State will add Van Lith to their lineups.

Off the court, Van Lith graduated from Louisville with a degree in finance.

She is also seeing Jalen Suggs, a former Gonzaga player and current point guard for the Orlando Magic. Last year, the couple made their romance public.
