Latest Raiders News: NFL Draft insider suggests Las Vegas Raiders have ended pursuit of QB in Round 1, names 2 players as new top targets

An NFL Draft insider claims the Raiders have given up on a QB in the first round and has identified two players as their new priority targets.
There have been rumors for weeks that the Las Vegas Raiders would try their hardest to select a quarterback in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but a fresh report indicates they might take a completely other route.

It didn’t take long for the Raiders to know Jimmy Garoppolo would not be their long-term quarterback when they signed him in free agency last year. In his 11 appearances, rookie Aidan O’Connell performed admirably in relief, but he also demonstrated that he was not the guy who would succeed Derek Carr as their future franchise quarterback.
Rumors have been circulating for the past few months that the team, who was selected at 13 in Round 1, would like to take one of the gifted signal-callers in this year’s class. Sadly, there are a lot of teams this month that are in need of a quarterback. Up to four quarterbacks might be selected before Las Vegas makes its choice, and none of those clubs appear willing to trade out of their current positions.

Perhaps for this reason, Las Vegas Raiders supporters should “expect offensive line or cornerback at No. 13 overall” in the 2024 NFL Draft, according to a Thursday report from ESPN NFL Draft source Jordan Reid.

With the 13th pick in the first round, are the Las Vegas Raiders likely to seek Terrion Arnold?

In addition, if they are unable to pull off a major trade up into the top 10, he not only recommended which positions they should target in Round 1 but also which players would be ideal fits for them.

Reid noted, “Pierce appeared to be closely monitoring Terrion Arnold at Alabama’s pro day last month, as he would provide Vegas with a shutdown corner on the outside.” However, team sources have also hinted to me that the Raiders might bring in another tackle to go with Kolton Miller. Given his play style and the hole at right tackle, Taliese Fuaga is a perfect fit, but don’t write out JC Latham just yet.

Before this year’s tournament, the team’s top priorities were offensive line and cornerback. It’s possible that they will still pursue quarterbacks like Michael Penix Jr. or Bo Nix with their pick in the second round on April 26.
