First up, we have the Redlegs.

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana: Natalie Venkataraman of Baton Rouge High School has signed with the LSU women’s track & field and cross-country programs, head coach Dennis Shaver announced on Thursday.

Venkataraman will join six other freshmen in the women’s distance class of 2024—Maddie Gump, Jenna Key, Ahry Comer, Anna Pierce, Yuya Sawada, and Taylor Tarpley—in a loaded class.

Venkataraman expressed his excitement at the chance to join the LSU track squad. “I wanted to be a part of a team that is cohesive and driven to win, so I chose LSU because of how friendly Coach [Houston] Franks and the squad were during the recruiting process.

The prospect of getting to know the other new recruits and representing LSU in events across the nation excites me the most.

With personal best performances of 4:57.43 (indoors) and 5:11.80 (outdoors) in the 1600 meters, the hometown hero has currently finished three times as the state runner-up. In the 3200 meters, she also finished in second place with PRs of 11:08.80 inside and 11:18.05 outdoors.

In addition, Venkataraman, who is presently completing her senior year at Baton Rouge High School, has a personal best time of 2:15.33 in the 800 meters. In addition, she holds cross-country personal records in the two-mile (13.17.3), three-mile (181.0.4), and five-mile (1903.8) events.
