Max Tooley, a former BYU linebacker, joins the Houston Texans
SALT LAKE CITY: After the 2024 NFL Draft, former BYU Cougars linebacker Max Tooley signed a free agent contract with the Houston Texans.

Max Tooley joins the Texas Texans.
On Saturday, April 27, the BYU football team announced the news of Tooley’s contract with the Texans.

The team’s official X account wrote, “Congrats, Max.”

He joins a 2023 Texans squad that finished with a 10-7 record.

Concerning Max Tooley
Prior to attending college, the product of Bountiful, Utah, served a two-year church mission in the United Kingdom after being selected for the 2015 All-USA Utah Football First-Team as a defensive lineman at Bountiful High School.

In his four games as a freshman in 2018, Tooley totaled two tackles while playing for BYU. Tooley played in 13 games in 2019 and recorded 48 tackles, two tackles for loss, and an interception. He also developed as a player.

 

Tooley participated in 12 games in the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season, recording 44 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 interception, 3 quarterback hurries, and 1 pass breakup. The linebacker saw action in 12 games in 2021 and finished with 68 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and three pass breakups.

Tooley racked up 57 total tackles in 2022, including 33 solo stops, one forced fumble, one sack, one pass breakup, and three interceptions.

The linebacker recorded 92 total tackles, 53 solo tackles, two pass breakups, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one interception in 2023, his only season with the Cougars.
