Good News: Top Talented Super Star Signs UDFA deal with Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons sign Illinois quarterback John Paddock to a UDFA contract.
The mythology goes on.

After the NFL Draft, former Illinois quarterback John Paddock signed a free agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons.

In seven games with the Illini, the sixth-year senior completed 85 of 143 passes (59.4%) for 1,278 yards, nine touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Paddock’s one and only season in Champaign was marked by a number of notable contests. Late in the fourth quarter against Minnesota, he relieved an injured Luke Altmyer, going 3-for-3 for 85 yards and the game-winning touchdown. The next week, in an exciting 48-45 overtime victory over the Indiana Hoosiers, Paddock passed for 507 yards and four touchdowns.

Just weeks after signing free agency Kirk Cousins to a fully-guaranteed 4-year, $100 million contract, the Falcons made waves on draft night one when they selected Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth overall choice. Paddock will now compete with other players for Atlanta’s backup position.
