Breaking News: Auburn Tigers Confirm The Depature OF Fans Favorite Star

Johnson’s former Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn, who first attracted him to Auburn, will be his new boss at UCF. Trovon Reed, a former employee of Auburn, is currently the secondary coach at UCF.

Johnson’s eligibility is ending this year.

After leading Auburn’s wide outs in receiving yards for two straight seasons, Johnson signed on the transfer portal in December.

Over the last three seasons, the Hewitt-Trussville product has amassed over 1,110 receiving yards across 34 games.

He was the most well-known wide receiver leaving Auburn at the time, and significant changes were about to happen. The only other wide receiver, Jay Fair, joined Johnson in leaving Auburn to move to USC during the spring transfer window. Omari Kelly, Jyaire Shorter, and Malcolm Johnson Jr. are among the other receivers who left Auburn to transfer.
Rivaldo Fairweather, Auburn’s top pass receiver overall, will rejoin the squad in 2024.

With the addition of the highest-rated class of high school receivers in program history, headlined by five-star prospect Cam Coleman, Auburn completely redesigned its wide receiver room in the offseason. Additionally, it added receivers from the transfer portal, including as former Cal quarterback Sam Jackson V., Georgia State receiver Robert Lewis, and 2023 Penn State leading receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith.

The SEC’s statistically worst passing attack in 2023 is expected to undergo a major transformation thanks to the addition of multiple new pass-catching talent, according to head coach Hugh Freeze. Payton Thorne, the quarterback, is expected to continue as the starting in 2024.
