**Alabama Basketball Announces Addition of 5 Players: Nate Oats’ Insights**
Alabama’s basketball team has officially added five new players, set to play significant roles following their Final Four appearance. Head coach Nate Oats expressed his excitement about the new additions, which include three top-rated freshmen. Oats managed these acquisitions with a new coaching staff, after all three of his previous assistants became head coaches. This year, one assistant, Austin Clunach, left to lead UTSA.
According to 247Sports rankings, Alabama’s recruiting class is second only to Duke, which has five five-star prospects. Alabama’s new players include four transfers and a late addition from high school: Aden Holloway (Auburn), Houston Mallette (Pepperdine), Chris Youngblood (South Florida), Clifford Omoruyi (Rutgers), and Labaron Philon (a freshman from Mobile).

**Chris Youngblood** (returning home to Tuscaloosa):
“Chris is a proven winner, the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and an exceptional shooter. He is also an explosive downhill driver and a relentless worker.”
**Labaron Philon** (high school player from Baker and Link Academy):
“Labaron is an explosive combo guard, dynamic in the open floor, and plays above the rim. He shot over 40 percent from three in high school and is a tenacious competitor. We are excited to have him in our program.”
**Clifford Omoruyi** (record-setting player at Rutgers):
“Cliff is one of the best shot blockers in the country and the Big Ten over the last 25 years. He will anchor our defense and has great offensive skills. He is an exceptional athlete with a 7’6” wingspan.”
**Aden Holloway** (five-star recruit from Auburn):
“Aden, a McDonald’s All-American, was one of the best shooting point guards in high school. He can shoot from deep, get into the paint, make plays, and defend well. He has a unique combination of skill, talent, and hard work.”
**Houston Mallette** (scored over 1,000 points in his career):
“Houston is a versatile guard with length and playmaking skills. He can guard multiple positions, shoot accurately, and involve his teammates. He has a high basketball IQ and a team-first mindset, making him a great two-way player.”
Alabama is also waiting on the decision of elite point guard Mark Sears, who is considering entering the NBA Draft. Sears’ decision, due by the May 29 eligibility deadline, could further strengthen Alabama’s chances for a national championship.
