ESPN REport: Just In Denver Nuggets Confirm The Signing Of Top NBA Veteran

**Denver Nuggets Eyeing $33M Ex-All-Star Ahead of NBA Free Agency**

After a disappointing end to their title defense, the Denver Nuggets are looking to retool in the offseason. Nikola Jokic and the team are eager to challenge for the crown again in the 2024-25 season and will need roster upgrades to remain contenders.

One potential addition is former All-Star Gordon Hayward, who will become a free agent as his current deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder ends.

The Thunder took on Hayward’s $33.3 million contract after acquiring him before the February trade deadline. However, OKC’s GM Sam Presti has admitted the acquisition was a mistake, indicating they do not plan to extend his contract.

Denver might be the next destination for the 6-foot-7 swingman in his 13-year career. Nuggets reporter Harrison Wind from The DNVR noted that some within the Nuggets organization are fans of Hayward.

Hayward’s salary demands for his next contract are uncertain, but it’s expected to be significantly lower than the $33 million he earned last season. The Nuggets have limited cap space for 2024-25 and aim to sign Hayward at a substantial discount.

Last season, with the Charlotte Hornets, Hayward averaged 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.1 steals during the first half of the campaign.
