According to Kalen DeBoer, Alabama wide receiver Jalen Hale hurt his knee during practice.
Jalen Hale, a sophomore for Alabama, sustained a “significant” knee injury during practice on Tuesday.
Hale will be sidelined for the spring, according to head coach Kalen DeBoer. At a news conference on Thursday, DeBoer informed reporters that it was unknown when Hale would make a comeback.
The wide receiver group on the team, which lost Isaiah Bond, Amari Niblack, and Malik Benson to the transfer portal and Jermaine Burton to the NFL Draft, had Hale as one of the remaining players. Among the returning pass-catchers from the 2023 offense, which also included CJ Dippre and Kobe Prentice, Hale came in third place with 148 yards.
Hale only had one touchdown reception, catching a Jalen Milroe fly throw that was 33 yards long. In the end, they defeated Ole Miss with a six-point victory after each took a hefty hit. Hale recorded large catches in the games against Chattanooga and Kentucky before going without a catch in the final three games of the season.
“He’ll be out for the spring, but there will still be some assessment to determine the exact timeline for the remainder of the year,” DeBoer stated.
According to Tide Illustrated’s Tony Tsoukalas, Hale departed Alabama’s practice in an ambulance.
JaMarcus Shephard, the coach of the Alabama wide receivers, commended Prentice for being the most knowledgeable player this spring on the new playbook. As a rookie, Kendrick Law became a go-to guy for Tommy Rees and might be useful in DeBoer’s plan. During a media viewing session last week, Washington transfer Germie Bernard was photographed wearing a black practice jersey. However, there doesn’t seem to be a long-term worry.
Ryan Williams, a highly anticipated five-star prospect, will enter this summer following his graduation from Saraland. A-Day on April 13 will feature two more names to be aware of: rookie Jaren Hamilton and third-year player Emmanuel Henderson.
