Latest vols News:Just In Another Top Tennessee Volunteers Star Confirm To Enter Transfer Portal

Elijah Herring, a linebacker, logs into the transfer portal
It seemed like Herring was falling off the depth chart.

Now that spring practices have officially concluded, it’s time to begin another round of portalling. Athletes can check how their spring session went by visiting the transfer site, which reopened on Monday and will remain online until the end of April.

Elijah Herring thought the decision was easy. After veteran linebacker Keenan Pili, who Herring substituted for last season, returns, the 11-game starter from the previous season will be available via the transfer link.

On Monday night, Herring made the announcement.

Last season, Herring finished first in Tennessee with 80 tackles, including four stops for loss.

Herring still has two playing seasons left, and he will be a junior this autumn. With Jeremiah Telander emerging and garnering a ton of recognition for his growth this spring, his decision makes sense. Major recruit Arion Carter is expected to make a comeback from injury, while Edwin Spillman, a true freshman, made some noise this spring as well.

Jordan Burns, Jalen Smith, and Kalib Perry are still available for Tennessee to complete the depth chart. This autumn, they will replace the reliable veteran Aaron Beasley, but so far, the coaching staff appears happy with how their younger players have developed behind Pili.

Caleb, Elijah’s younger brother, is still in Tennessee. This season, the former four-star prospect will be a sophomore and will play a supporting role to edge rushers Joshua Josephs and James Pearce.
