Good News: Just In San Antonio Spurs Confirm The Signing Of Another Top Talented Star

Chris Paul, the former point guard for the Houston Rockets, agreed to a one-year contract to play for the San Antonio Spurs with Victor Wembanyama.
After Chris Paul left the Houston Rockets in July of 2019, he started playing in the NBA as a journeyman. Paul has subsequently played for two more teams after the Rockets moved him to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Russell Westbrook.

Paul just participated in the 2023–24 NBA season with the Golden State Warriors, where he made his career debut in a reserve position. Paul was released by the Warriors on Sunday night, the first day of free agency. Paul signed a one-year contract with the San Antonio Spurs after being released.

Paul will be paired with the winner of Rookie of the Year, Victor Wembanyama. Wembanyama averaged 21.4 points, 46.5 percent shooting from the field, and 10.6 rebounds per game in his 71 games played.
A point guard was required by the Spurs to partner with Wembanyama. The Spurs added a seasoned leader who can help build the foundation for Wembanyama and the rest of their young core talents, in addition to San Antonio adding one of the best floor generals of the last 20 years.

Paul has been a key component of every team’s success over his 19-year NBA career, having joined the then-New Orleans Hornets with the fourth overall choice in the 2005 NBA Draft.

Paul would probably play a similar role with the Spurs as he did with the Thunder in the 2019–20 campaign. Even though Oklahoma was just beginning to recover, Paul’s leadership and output kept the team afloat.

The Thunder finished 44–28 and earned a postseason berth. In the first round of the 2020 playoffs, they faced the Rockets in a seven-game series that concluded their season.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a former Kentucky prospect who is now an MVP-caliber player because to the teachings Paul taught him as a young player. He’ll probably treat Wembanyama the same way.
