Good News: Just In Colorado Avalanche Sign Another Top Talented Star

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club signed forward Jason Polin to a one-year deal for the 2024–25 campaign, the team announced today.

After playing with the Colorado Eagles for his first full season in 2023–24, Polin, 25, finished with 10 points (4g/6a) in 42 games. In terms of points and assists, he finished fourth among rookie skaters from Colorado and tied for fourth all Eagles rookies. On January 8, 2024, Polin was called up by the Avs and made his NHL debut. He participated in seven club games, and on January 16 against Ottawa, he scored his first goal.

From 2022 to 2024, the product of Holt, Michigan, played in 49 AHL regular-season games and recorded 11 points (4g/7a). In the past two seasons, he has also made six appearances for the Eagles in the postseason. On March 29, 2023, Polin initially signed a college free agent contract with Colorado.

Polin played at Western Michigan University from 2019–23 before turning pro. In 132 games, he scored 96 points (60g/36a). As team captain in his final season, Polin scored 30 goals, which was a record for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) and led all NCAA skaters. With his 47 points (30g/17), he tied for the club lead in power-play goals (6), finished second in points overall, and scored five hat tricks. In addition to winning the NCHC Player of the Year award, Polin was ranked among the top ten collegiate hockey players and a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.

With the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the USHL from 2016 to 2019, the 198-pound forward skated in 157 games and scored 84 points (50g/34a). In his final season in 2018–19, he played as an alternate captain and finished tied for sixth in the league in goals scored with 50 points (30g/20a). Polin led the squad in goals and points scored with nine points (5g/4a) in six USHL postseason games played in 2019.
